Synopsis

Two women who were once close neighbours in a small Basque town haven't spoken in years. Between them sits a killing: one woman's husband was shot dead by ETA, the other's son is serving time as a member of the same organization. The show picks up after the ceasefire the separatists declared in 2011, when the long silence between the two families finally breaks. Eight episodes move forward and backward in time, building a picture of how an ordinary friendship gets taken apart — not through ideology, but through specific choices made by specific people at specific moments.
Aramburu wrote the novel over two decades, watching the Basque conflict hollow out communities from the inside. The adaptation carries that long view: no clean heroes or obvious villains, just ordinary people whose lives happened to sit on opposite sides of something neither of them started.
