The Tattooist of Auschwitz (Season 1)
Love in the darkest of places.
Synopsis
The Tattooist of Auschwitz (2024) is a drama miniseries you can watch online on iFILM. It draws on the life of a real man, Slovak Jew Lali Sokolov, deported to the camp in 1942. He kept the story to himself for decades before telling it — and that telling is what the screen version is built around.
Young Lali, played by Jonah Hauer-King, is forced to ink ID numbers onto the arms of new arrivals. One of them is Gita, and Anna Próchniak plays the woman he stays alive for amid the barracks and the wire. A second thread runs alongside it: an elderly Lali, brought to life by Harvey Keitel, dictating his memories to a writer as the past surfaces in fragments. Love here isn't comfort — it's how two people refuse to break.
Directed by Tali Shalom-Ezer from Heather Morris's million-selling novel, the series moves slowly and asks a lot of its viewer. The miracle of survival never cancels out its cost. Made for anyone ready for an honest reckoning with the Holocaust. Stream The Tattooist of Auschwitz (2024) online on iFILM.
