The Counted (Seasons 1–2)

The Counted (2018) is a Russian sci-fi mystery series you can watch online on iFILM. A remote Karelian village turns up an outbreak of West Nile fever — a disease that has no business being there. The Institute of Virology sends two virologists to investigate: Vera Boiko (Mariya Mashkova) and Nikolai Romanov (Daniil Vorobyov), ex-partners in more than one sense, reluctantly sharing a field assignment.

The deeper they go, the harder science struggles to keep up. Both start showing symptoms of the very illness they came to contain. On the strange island of Sariola, Vera vanishes — and whatever rules apply to that place don't come from any textbook.
