Synopsis
Igra (Игра, 2011) is a Russian detective series you can watch online on iFILM, rated 16+. The premise is tight: FSB officer Belov, played by Prokhor Dubravín, is hunting career criminal Smolin — and neither side intends to stop until the other is done.
Directors Oleg Galin and Ivan Shchyogolev structure each episode like a separate match, with both players reading the board and shifting tactics after every exchange. It starts with a bank robbery in Volgograd. Smolin escapes custody, takes Belov's partner hostage, and proposes a chess game — his rules, his board. The show works because both sides are genuinely dangerous and genuinely smart. Pavel Barshak, Darya Poverennova, Evgeny Stychkin, and Nikolay Kozak are also in the cast.
