Synopsis
Hacks (2021) is an HBO Max comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Jean Smart plays Deborah Vance, a Las Vegas comedy legend whose residency contract is quietly shrinking. Her manager's fix: pair her with Ava (Hannah Einbinder), a 25-year-old TV writer who torched her own career with a single tweet and has nowhere else to go.
They are, in every way, wrong for each other. Deborah runs on discipline and controlled fury. Ava runs on impulse and borrowed confidence. The jokes they write together are sharp precisely because neither would have landed there alone.
