The criminals change from week to week; the police routine does not. One killer taunts the detectives, sure he will never be caught. In another case the body of a young man turns up in a suitcase, and Lieutenant Grawe and Captain Beck pick the thread apart. After that come jealousy, a sleepless night, a poisoning. In most of these stories the motive hides inside an ordinary human weakness.
