Synopsis

Fame (1982), Season 1 — watch online on iFILM. This musical drama runs sixteen episodes set at New York's High School for the Performing Arts, where the first class of dancers, singers, musicians and actors learns that talent is only the entry fee.

The school doesn't deal in comfort. Lydia Grant's famous warning — you want fame, well, fame costs, and you start paying right here in sweat — sets the temperature for the whole season. Episode by episode, the teenagers run into everything the audition never mentions: empty pockets, jealousy, rejection, family pressure, and their own doubt. The numbers aren't breaks from the story; they're how these kids say what they can't put into plain words.

Spun off from the 1980 film, the show became a phenomenon, especially in Britain, where the cast cut hit records and toured. Debbie Allen, as the exacting Lydia, is the spine the first season leans on. Stream Fame Season 1 online on iFILM.
