Synopsis

Count Vronsky, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, falls for Anna at once, and she has no strength to refuse him. Their affair cannot stay hidden, and the high society of the era punishes a woman for what it forgives in a man. Anna is caught between her son, her husband Karenin — Jude Law gives him a cold, wounded dignity — and a passion that burns through her. Wright stages the whole story like theatre: scenes glide off the stage into the wings, a ballroom dissolves into a snowbound railway platform, and the line between performance and real life nearly disappears.
