Synopsis
Across 110th Street (1972) is a brutal crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Set in early-1970s Harlem and directed by Barry Shear, it stars Anthony Quinn and Yaphet Kotto.
Three small-time crooks dress as cops and walk off with $300,000 from a mob-run numbers bank. Bodies are left behind, and now the runners are hunted from both directions. On one side, the Italian mafia, treating the heist as a personal insult. On the other, two detectives: aging Captain Mattelli, long on the take, and his younger Black partner Lieutenant Pope, who still plays it straight. The only question is who reaches the money first. Anthony Franciosa and Antonio Fargas fill out the cast.
A hundred and two minutes with no breather: filthy streets, racial tension, and not a single clean hero in sight. The film became a benchmark for the genre, and Bobby Womack's title track later found a second life when Tarantino dropped it into Jackie Brown. If you want raw, unvarnished 1970s crime, this hits the spot. Stream Across 110th Street (1972) online on iFILM.
