Synopsis
The Heartbreak Kid (1972) is Elaine May's razor-sharp comedy, free to watch online on iFILM. Lenny gets married, heads to Miami for the honeymoon, and by day three he has already fallen for someone else.
His new wife Lila turns out to be nothing like the woman in his head — clingy, naive, and badly sunburned. Then on the beach he spots Kelly, a tall blonde from a wealthy Minnesota family who looks like every glossy American fantasy he ever had. Rather than face the mistake he just made, Lenny sets off chasing the new dream, ditching his bride in the middle of their own vacation.
Charles Grodin plays a man you cannot root for and cannot look away from. Neil Simon wrote the screenplay, and underneath the one-liners sits a fairly merciless portrait of male selfishness.
