Synopsis
Breakfast on Pluto (2005) is an Irish-British comedy-drama directed by Neil Jordan — watch it online on iFILM. Cillian Murphy plays Patrick "Kitten" Braden, an illegitimate child left on a doorstep in a small Irish town, who grows up knowing he belongs nowhere near where he landed.
It's the 1970s. The Troubles are in full swing. Kitten packs a bag and heads to London to find the mother he has never met. What follows is a picaresque romp through glam clubs, IRA bomb scares, magic shows, and the very particular loneliness of a stranger in a city that doesn't quite see him. Liam Neeson, Brendan Gleeson, and Stephen Rea each turn up in vivid supporting roles. Jordan adapted Pat McCabe's novel — the same writer behind The Butcher Boy — with a lightness that keeps the darker undercurrents from swamping the screen.
