Synopsis
Ondine (2010) is an Irish-American romantic drama directed by Neil Jordan — watch it online on iFILM. Colin Farrell plays Syracuse, a fisherman on the Cork coast; Alicja Bachleda-Curuś is the stranger he pulls alive from his net one morning.
Syracuse has kept his life simple: sober, working, raising his daughter Annie, who is on dialysis. Annie reads the woman in the net as a selkie — a seal that walks as a human on land, straight out of Celtic folk tradition. Syracuse is less convinced by the mythology and more convinced by his own feelings. As the woman called Ondine settles into his coastal cottage, pieces of her actual history begin to surface. It turns out to be neither myth nor fairy tale, but something more complicated.
Jordan uses the Irish seascape and its folklore as a kind of emotional pressure — the mist, the tides, the stories people need to believe. The film sits between genres on purpose, and that unsteadiness is the point. Stream Ondine (2010) online on iFILM.
