Gun Shy

Gun Shy (2017) is Simon West's action comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Antonio Banderas plays Turk Henry, a faded platinum rock star whose glory days are long gone. A lazy vacation in Chile goes sideways when pirates snatch his supermodel wife and demand a million-dollar ransom.

Paying would be no problem for Turk. The catch: meddling federal agents forbid him to deal with the kidnappers. So a man who has never been responsible for anyone but his own hairdo has to cook up a rescue himself. Olga Kurylenko is the abducted wife, while her clueless husband bumbles across the Chilean backcountry, tripping into one ridiculous mess after another.

West, the director behind Con Air and the Tomb Raider reboot, trades his usual straight-faced action for an out-and-out spoof of rock-star vanity. The humor is broad, the plot is feather-light, and Banderas is clearly having a blast sending up an aging narcissist. It's a switch-your-brain-off pick for a lazy evening.
