Synopsis
Gray Lady Down (1978) is a submarine disaster thriller you can watch online on iFILM. David Greene directed it, Charlton Heston leads, and a young Christopher Reeve turns up in a small early role a year before Superman made him a household name.
In heavy fog off the Connecticut coast, the nuclear sub USS Neptune is rammed by a Norwegian freighter and drops straight to the ocean floor. The hull holds, but she settles at an angle no standard rescue ship can lift — and the air inside is draining by the hour. Captain Paul Blanchard and his crew are pinned below while, on the surface, the Navy scrambles a tiny experimental deep-sea craft commanded by a stubborn, by-his-own-rules officer. It's the only way to reach the trapped men in time.
A hundred and eleven minutes of cramped, ticking-clock tension: narrow compartments, dwindling oxygen, the crushing weight of the water above. Solid late-70s genre filmmaking for anyone who loves a rescue-against-the-clock story and Heston under pressure — literally. Stream Gray Lady Down (1978) online on iFILM.
