Damages (2007) is an American legal thriller you can watch online on iFILM, created by Daniel Zelman and brothers Glenn and Todd A. Kessler for FX. Glenn Close plays Patty Hewes — a New York attorney who only takes cases where the stakes are enormous and the methods are flexible. Rose Byrne plays Ellen Parsons, the ambitious law-school graduate who becomes her protégée and, in ways she doesn't yet understand, her instrument.

Each season centres on a major lawsuit — season one pits Patty against billionaire Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson) — but the real subject is the relationship between the two women. The show tells its story in fragments: you see the aftermath of something terrible before you learn what caused it, and the reconstruction takes the whole season. Later seasons bring in Timothy Oliphant, William Hurt, Martin Short and Marcia Gay Harden in standout supporting turns.
