Synopsis

At the center sits a wrongful-death suit tied to Channing McClaren, founder of a WikiLeaks-style whistleblower site, after a trader at an investment firm turns up dead. Ellen represents him; Patty comes for him. Running alongside is a second fight — the custody battle over Patty's son Michael — and Ellen is called to testify against the woman who trained her. The season drives their long cold war into the open. Ellen's own past resurfaces too, as the attack she survived years ago finally gives up a name.
Daniel Zelman and the Kessler brothers end the series on its real subject: not the case but the cost of what Patty and Ellen are to each other.
