Synopsis
A Guy Named Joe (1944) is an MGM wartime fantasy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Victor Fleming — whose previous credits included Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz — tried something quieter: WWII bomber pilot Pete Sandidge is shot down over Europe and finds himself on the other side, handed a new assignment by a heavenly General.
His job is to guide young airman Ted Randall from the invisible sidelines. The problem: Ted falls for Dorinda, the woman Pete left behind. Spencer Tracy plays Pete with his usual economy, Irene Dunne is Dorinda, and Van Johnson got one of his early breaks as Randall.
