LA couple Bryan and David have the careers, the apartment, and one thing still missing. Enter Goldie — a young waitress who moved to California with her eight-year-old daughter to escape her bigoted grandmother and a life going nowhere. The guys ask her to be their surrogate. Grandma moves to LA right behind her and makes her feelings about all of this extremely clear. Murphy turns what could easily be a culture-war sitcom into something warmer — a show about people who end up becoming a family by accident.
