Synopsis
The Barrens (2012) is a horror-thriller from director Darren Lynn Bousman, available to watch online on iFILM. A routine family camping trip into the New Jersey woods turns into anything but a relaxing weekend.
Richard Vineyard hauls his wife, teenage daughter and young son out to the Pine Barrens, the stretch of forest where locals swear the Jersey Devil still roams. At first it's just campfire talk. Then Richard starts seeing things in the trees that none of his family can, and the line between an old folk monster and his own unraveling mind quietly disappears. Stephen Moyer of True Blood anchors the film as a man you can't quite trust yet still fear for. Bousman, who built his name on Saw II through IV, trades gore here for paranoia and the rustle of something just out of frame. The ending will split viewers down the middle.
