Irene Adler arrives first — a blackmail case threatening the royal family, and the one person Sherlock cannot simply outthink. Then Dartmoor: Henry Knight is convinced the enormous creature he saw kill his father wasn't a childhood nightmare, and for the first time in the show Sherlock doubts his own perception. The third episode brings Moriarty back with a plan assembled over years — he calls it the final problem, and the rooftop where it ends leaves the answer deliberately out of frame.
