Synopsis
National Champions (2021) is a sports drama to watch online on iFILM, directed by Ric Roman Waugh. Hours before the biggest college football game of the year, star quarterback LeMerrick James walks into the athletic director's office and announces a strike. He wants fair pay, health coverage, and basic respect for athletes whose labor funds an $18 billion industry.
What follows is a one-night standoff. Stephan James plays the quarterback; J.K. Simmons is the compliance officer across the table — calm, practiced, impossible to rattle. Adapted from Adam Mervis's play, the film doesn't pretend there are no bad guys in the room. Alexander Ludwig, Timothy Oliphant, and Uzo Aduba fill out the cast.
