Synopsis
Halo Legends (2010) is an anime anthology set in the Halo universe that you can watch online on iFILM — seven stories told across eight short episodes.
The collection was made by top Japanese studios working for American producers, and every episode arrives in its own style, from hand-drawn cel animation to full CG. Some shorts dig into the Spartans and the murky origins of Master Chief; others roam wider, covering the tense rivalry between Spartans and ODST drop troopers, a couple of near-comic sketches, and some grim battlefield drama.
Production I.G, Studio 4°C, Bones and Toei Animation each handled segments, which alone makes it worth a look for anime fans. Like any anthology it's uneven — a few entries land harder than others. Still, for anyone who played Halo 1, 2, 3 and Halo Wars, it's a rare chance to see a familiar world through the eyes of Japan's best animators.
