Synopsis
Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland (1989) is a fantasy animated film you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Masami Hata and William T. Hurtz. It adapts Winsor McCay's landmark Sunday comic strip, which first appeared in 1905, through a US–Japan co-production that spent roughly fifteen years in development.
Young Nemo is invited by a princess to Slumberland — a world of airships, talking creatures, and a palace that seems to have no edges. He's barely settled in before he opens a door he shouldn't, unleashing a nightmare that begins to consume both the dream world and the one he left behind.
The film's rough edges from that fifteen-year production are part of its character — handmade in a way polished modern animation rarely is. For anyone who grew up with McCay's original imagery, it's an expansive and surprisingly faithful translation. Stream Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland (1989) online on iFILM.
