Synopsis
Shattered (1991) is a neo-noir thriller directed by Wolfgang Petersen — watch it online on iFILM. Architect Dan Merrick survives a brutal car crash but wakes up without a single memory: no face, no past, no way to verify anything anyone tells him. Surgeons reconstruct his features from old photographs. Then the questions start.
His wife Judith fills in the blanks with a patient, practiced calm that Dan can't quite trust. Tom Berenger plays the amnesiac as a man watching his own life like a stranger at someone else's window, while Bob Hoskins' private eye Gus Klein — shabby, tenacious, not above cutting corners — digs where Judith doesn't want anyone looking. Greta Scacchi and Joanne Whalley complete a cast where everyone seems to be managing their version of events.
Petersen made this between Das Boot and In the Line of Fire, and the same controlled pressure is here: slow accumulation, then a final reversal that reframes every scene before it. For fans of thrillers built around an unreliable witness, this one delivers. Stream Shattered (1991) online on iFILM.
