Synopsis
Welcome to Collinwood (2002) is a crime comedy directed by Anthony and Joe Russo — watch it online on iFILM. This was the directing duo's feature debut, years before the Captain America films and Avengers; at 82 minutes it moves like they had something to prove.
Small-time crook Cosimo is stuck in jail but holds the tip-off for a pawnbroker's safe worth cleaning out. His plan: pay somebody fifteen thousand dollars to serve his sentence so he can walk free and pull the job. His girlfriend Rosalinda goes looking for a volunteer, and five desperate men immediately orbit her — each pretending he found someone willing, each actually angling for a cut of the heist. The robbery itself turns out to be only slightly less chaotic than the crew assembling it.
Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy, Luis Guzmán, and Isaiah Washington form the core of the ensemble, with George Clooney in a supporting turn. The Russos adapted the 1958 Italian film Audace colpo dei soliti ignoti, keeping the deadpan absurdity intact.
