Welcome to Mooseport

Welcome to Mooseport (2004) is an American comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Gene Hackman plays a two-term president who retreats to his small Maine hometown to write his memoirs — and somehow ends up running for mayor of a town of a few hundred people.

His opponent is the local plumber, Harold Rottweiler, played by Ray Romano, who turns out to have a personal stake beyond civic duty: the same woman both men are quietly pursuing. Director Donald Petrie plays the collision for gentle laughs rather than political satire, and Hackman, in what became his final comedic role, brings a weathered dignity that sells every joke.
