Cannibal! The Musical

Cannibal! The Musical (1996) is a gleefully tasteless horror-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Colorado, 1873. Alferd Packer leads five clueless prospectors into the mountains chasing gold — and gets them hopelessly lost in the snow.

Then the singing starts. The men break into cheery showtunes about friendship, hunger and Packer's beloved horse while the trip slides toward starvation and, eventually, eating each other. Along the way they run into a Japanese-speaking "Indian" tribe, a band of grumpy trappers and a one-eyed Confederate. Trey Parker writes, directs and stars as Packer, with his future partner Matt Stone right beside him.

This was Parker's student film at the University of Colorado, shot on pocket change years before South Park — same crude wit, same love of skewering Hollywood musicals. Gore, dumb catchy songs and zero good taste. It's a treat for fans of early lo-fi cult comedy and anyone who likes their westerns bloody and ridiculous. Stream Cannibal! The Musical online on iFILM.
