Synopsis
The Beast (1988) is a war drama directed by Kevin Reynolds that you can watch online on iFILM. A Soviet T-62 crew is marooned in the Afghan mountains after razing a village, commanded by Lieutenant Daskal — a man who treats his own soldiers as expendable as the enemy.
George Dzundza plays Daskal with frightening conviction, while Jason Patric is Konstantin, the one crew member who can no longer stomach what he is part of. When Daskal leaves him for dead in the hills, Konstantin makes an unlikely choice: he joins the Mujahideen hunting the tank down.
Shot on location in Israel, the film draws from William Mastrosimone's stage play "Nanawatai" — a Pashtun code of honor that demands shelter be given even to an enemy who asks for it. It is a rare American film about the Soviet-Afghan war that refuses to hand you a clean side to root for. Stream The Beast (1988) online on iFILM.
