Synopsis
Josh meets a woman on a New York sidewalk, and seconds later an ambulance hauls her off — diabetic emergency, they say. The Ambulance (1990) is a paranoid thriller with a comic streak you can watch online on iFILM. Trouble is, no vehicle with those plates ever reached the hospital. She's nowhere. And nobody believes a word he says.
What follows is a one-man investigation the cops want no part of. Eric Roberts plays a stubborn comic-book artist everyone takes for a crank, while James Earl Jones is the detective slowly losing patience with him. Writer-director Larry Cohen, the cult king of cheap, clever genre pictures, plays his ridiculous premise dead straight and lets the dread rise out of the absurdity.
