Synopsis
Much Ado About Nothing (2013) is a black-and-white romantic comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Joss Whedon from Shakespeare's play. The 107-minute film relocates the story from Renaissance Messina to a modern Santa Monica villa. Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Nathan Fillion, and Clark Gregg lead the cast.
Two couples anchor the film. Beatrice (Acker) and Benedick (Denisof) have been trading insults for years and loudly insist they want nothing to do with each other. Claudio has fallen for Hero at first sight, and the wedding is nearly set — until the scheming Don John plants a lie that threatens to unravel both relationships at once. Fillion's Dogberry, the enthusiastically incompetent constable, steals every scene he wanders into.
Whedon shot the film in twelve days at his own home during post-production on The Avengers, with a cast drawn largely from his earlier TV work. That low-pressure, house-party energy comes through on screen — the comedy breathes instead of performing. For anyone who suspects Shakespeare's comedies are dusty by default, this one is the counterargument. Stream Much Ado About Nothing (2013) online on iFILM.
