Synopsis
Princess Cyd (2017) is Stephen Cone's gentle coming-of-age drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Sixteen-year-old Cyd, raised by a father still shadowed by old grief, goes to spend a summer with her aunt Miranda, a well-known novelist.
Miranda's house runs on a slower, grown-up rhythm — books, dinner guests, long talks about faith and desire. Cyd is busy with her own world: sport, her body, a new crush on a neighborhood girl named Katie. Aunt and niece keep nudging each other, gently, over how a person should live — through the mind or through the senses. There's barely a plot; the film lives in half-tones, conversation and summer light.
Jessie Pinnick plays Cyd with disarming directness, and Rebecca Spence is quietly superb as Miranda. It's one for viewers who love small, unhurried films about growing up — no melodrama, no lessons, just mood over twists. Stream Princess Cyd (2017) online on iFILM.
