Synopsis
Henry Gamble's Birthday Party (2015) is an American indie drama you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Stephen Cone. The whole story fits inside a single summer day, as Henry turns seventeen and his family throws an afternoon pool party.
The guest list is a strange mix: congregants from the suburban evangelical church where Henry's father preaches, sitting poolside next to his secular school friends. Henry hasn't said out loud what he feels for a quiet boy named Logan — and he isn't the only one holding something back. His mother is unhappy in a marriage no one questions, his sister is home from her first year of college and torn between faith and freedom, and the grown-ups guard their secrets no better than the teenagers do.
Cone shoots all of it without a verdict, letting the camera drift between deck chairs and overhear things. A small, watchful film about belief, desire and the cost of keeping up appearances, with a brief early-career turn from Joe Keery. Stream Henry Gamble's Birthday Party online on iFILM.
