Synopsis
The Kids in the Hall (1989) is a Canadian sketch comedy show you can watch online on iFILM. Five comedians act out absurd little vignettes about small-town oddballs, office losers, and the kind of people you've actually met — just pushed to the edge of the grotesque.
The troupe is Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson. They play every part themselves, women included, sliding from quiet everyday awkwardness into full surrealism within a single sketch. This is where cult bits were born, like the man who "crushes" strangers' heads between his fingers from across the street, and the Chicken Lady. Lorne Michaels of Saturday Night Live produced it, but the humor here runs meaner, weirder, and freer than anything network TV would touch.
Running from 1989 to 1995 on CBC and HBO, the series became a benchmark for alternative comedy, and fans still trade its lines decades on. It suits anyone who likes dry, un-PC, unpredictable writing with no laugh track telling you when to chuckle. Stream The Kids in the Hall (1989) online on iFILM.
