Synopsis
Eros (2004) is an anthology film about desire you can watch online on iFILM. Three short stories, three countries, three filmmakers with wildly different styles — bound together by the pull of bodies and how impossible it is to hold on to.
Wong Kar-wai opens with The Hand: Hong Kong, 1963, where a young tailor measures a courtesan for a dress and falls for her across years she will barely notice. Steven Soderbergh shifts to 1955 New York, where an ad man played by Robert Downey Jr. is worn down by a recurring erotic dream and drags it onto the couch of his analyst, played by Alan Arkin. Michelangelo Antonioni closes the set on the Italian coast, with a marriage gone cold and an encounter that leaves no road back.
This was one of Antonioni's final works and ranks among Wong Kar-wai's most tender, shot with cinematographer Christopher Doyle. The film runs on mood rather than plot, and it rewards viewers ready for slow, sensual arthouse that takes its time. Stream Eros (2004) online on iFILM.
