Synopsis
The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things (2004) is Asia Argento's road drama, free to watch online on iFILM. Six-year-old Jeremiah is pulled out of a calm foster home when his mother Sarah comes back to claim him.
Sarah drags the boy across truck stops, strip clubs and rented rooms, a string of dangerous men trailing behind her. Jeremiah bounces between her chaos and the strict, Bible-thumping house of his grandparents, never sure which version of his life will hold. Argento plays Sarah herself; Jeremiah is shared across ages by Jimmy Bennett and twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse, with Winona Ryder, Peter Fonda and Marilyn Manson turning up along the way.
It's adapted from a book credited to JT LeRoy — a pen name later exposed as one of literature's strangest hoaxes. The film is raw and deliberately uncomfortable, refusing to soften a child's-eye story of addiction.
