Glorious

Glorious (2022) is a horror-comedy-fantasy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Rebekah McKendry and starring Ryan Kwanten with J.K. Simmons providing the voice of something best left undescribed. The tagline says it plainly: "The universe has a favor to ask."

Wes pulls into a remote rest stop mid-breakdown after a relationship ends badly. He ends up in the bathroom and can't get out. The entity in the next stall speaks to him — first politely, then less so — and Wes slowly understands that the scale of what he's dealing with dwarfs anything he was worrying about on the drive over. The whole film takes place in roughly two locations and runs 79 minutes.

What makes it work is Simmons: a voice with no body carries all the menace and dry wit for the entire runtime, and that's genuinely hard to pull off.
