About
Synopsis
"No Such Thing" (2002) is a dark fantasy from American indie director Hal Hartley — watch it online on iFILM. Beatrice, played by Sarah Polley, flies to Iceland to find her missing fiancé and instead runs into the creature that killed him.
The monster is not a predator but a wreck: an ancient, heavy-drinking hermit who has been alive far too long and wants nothing more than to stop. Beatrice brings him back to New York, where the city's media machine — with Helen Mirren as a cynical network boss — turns the thing into a spectacle. Hartley frames it as a deadpan modern fable about the violence of attention. Strange and deliberate, it rewards patience. Stream "No Such Thing" (2002) online on iFILM.
