Synopsis
Flaming Star (1960) is a western you can watch online on iFILM. On a Texas ranch, the Burton family lives between two worlds — a white father, a Kiowa mother, two sons — and that fragile balance is about to tear apart.
When war breaks out between settlers and the Kiowa, Pacer Burton, played by Elvis Presley, is caught between his mother's people and his father's home. The white neighbors treat him as an outsider, the tribe wants him to take up arms, and he has no wish to shoot at either side. Every choice costs Pacer a piece of his family. Around him stand his brother Clint (Steve Forrest), his mother — Mexican screen legend Dolores del Río — and a sweetheart with no safe place in the crossfire. Songs are almost absent here; Elvis is acting for real.
Director Don Siegel, who would later make Dirty Harry, treats the racial tragedy without mercy and refuses a tidy ending. Many call it Presley's finest dramatic turn — the rare time a pop idol was let loose in serious cinema. Best for viewers who want a grim, morally torn western rather than gunfights for their own sake. Stream Flaming Star (1960) online on iFILM.
