Synopsis

The new family down the block, the Klopeks, never come out, never say hello, and seem to be digging in their cellar at three in the morning. On a street where everyone tracks everyone, that is unforgivable. Ray and his buddies — gung-ho ex-soldier Mark and nosy loudmouth Art — start staking out the house. Then old Walter vanishes without a trace, and a neighborhood rumor curdles into a full-blown obsession that ends with the men breaking in to see for themselves.
Tom Hanks anchors a loose, funny ensemble that includes Bruce Dern, Carrie Fisher, Rick Ducommun, and a teenage Corey Feldman who treats the whole meltdown like front-row entertainment. Dante turns suburban boredom into a sharp little satire where the real danger isn't the creepy house, it's what a bored mind invents. The payoff flips your assumptions completely.
