Synopsis

Going Overboard (1989) is a comedy you can watch online on iFILM — and, more famously, Adam Sandler's very first leading role, years before he became a star.

Shecky Moskowitz dreams of making people laugh, but the cruise ship's comedy slot is already taken by a smug hack. So Shecky signs on as a waiter and waits for an opening. When the rival vanishes, the mic is finally his — right as terrorists sent by General Noriega sneak aboard to kill Miss Australia. Bikinis, machine guns, and one guy convinced he's destined for fame, all on the same boat.

Shot on pocket change with a cheerfully ramshackle streak, it has Shecky talking straight to the camera while the tiny budget shows in every frame. The movie survives mostly as the legendarily rough start of Sandler's career, with young Billy Zane and Billy Bob Thornton turning up too. More curiosity than comedy classic — but as a time capsule, it's gold. Stream Going Overboard (1989) online on iFILM.
