Hellraiser: Revelations

Hellraiser: Revelations (2011) is the ninth entry in Clive Barker's horror franchise — watch it online on iFILM. Directed by Víctor García, the film brings back the Lament Configuration and Pinhead, the Cenobite lord who makes deals in agony, for a new story built around two friends and a very bad decision in Mexico.

Nico and Steve find the puzzle box while travelling south of the border. One of them vanishes into whatever dimension the box opens. The other comes back — and something about that return unsettles everyone around him. As both families dig for answers, the box gets opened again, Pinhead materialises to collect what's owed, and the friendship between the two young men turns out to have been rotten long before any of this started. Steven Brand plays Pinhead in this instalment.

The production was rushed together specifically to keep the franchise rights alive, and the seams show. That said, García leans into the original Barker mythology rather than the slasher drift some sequels took, which gives it more edge than its reputation suggests.
