Synopsis

Waiting for Guffman (1997) is a mockumentary comedy directed by Christopher Guest that you can watch online on iFILM. The small town of Blaine, Missouri is turning 150, and local theater director Corky St. Clair has recruited a cast of blissfully untalented locals for an original musical revue.

The catalyst is a rumor: Broadway agent Morton Guffman is supposedly coming to the premiere. A dentist, a travel agent, a car dealer and a few other Blaine residents suddenly believe stardom is days away. Guest shot the entire film through improvisation alongside Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara and Fred Willard — no scripted dialogue, just committed performers building a world out of shared delusion.

The film is quietly devastating in the best possible way: you laugh at these people and then realize you've started rooting for them. Guest's eye for small-town self-belief has rarely been sharper. Stream Waiting for Guffman online on iFILM.
