Synopsis
Circle of Friends (1995) is the romantic drama you can watch online on iFILM, adapted from Maeve Binchy's novel. It's late-1950s Ireland — the small town of Knockglen and a Dublin college, where three childhood friends arrive chasing grown-up life, first loves and first betrayals.
At the heart of it is Benny: sharp, funny, and nothing like what others expect a leading girl to look like. She falls for Jack, the rugby team's golden boy, who finds talking to her easier than with anyone else. Then her glamorous friend, pregnant and abandoned by her lover, sets out to wreck that happiness to rescue her own. Minnie Driver plays Benny and Chris O'Donnell plays Jack, with Colin Firth, Alan Cumming and Ciarán Hinds filling out the town. Pat O'Connor directs.
