Synopsis
House of D (2004) is David Duchovny's bittersweet coming-of-age film, ready to watch online on iFILM. Painter Tom Warshaw has spent thirty years in Paris, and on his son's thirteenth birthday he finally tells the story of his own.
Flash back to New York, 1973. Young Tom (Anton Yelchin) is fatherless, his mother (Téa Leoni) sinking into depression, and his closest friend is Pappass — a gentle, intellectually disabled janitor played by Robin Williams. Tom falls for a classmate and gets his counsel from an unlikely source: a woman locked inside the Women's House of Detention, calling down through the bars (Erykah Badu).
This was Duchovny's debut behind the camera, and he plays the grown-up Tom as well. The result is a hushed film about friendship, a first crush and the guilt you haul around for decades. No big twists here — just warm characters and a soft ache for old Greenwich Village. Stream House of D online on iFILM.
