Andersonville

Andersonville (1996) is a war drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by John Frankenheimer for TNT. The film follows Union soldiers captured after the fighting at Cold Harbor in June 1864 and shipped to the Confederate prison camp in Georgia — the deadliest POW camp of the Civil War, where roughly 13,000 men died in fourteen months.

Private Josiah Day and his sergeant try to hold their company together inside a stockade with no adequate food, medicine, or shelter. A complicating factor: a gang of fellow prisoners called the Raiders has turned predatory, targeting the weakest inmates. Frankenheimer ran nearly three hours and didn't soften the conditions — the brutality here is systemic, not staged for spectacle. William Macy, Frederic Forrest, and Carmen Argenziano appear in supporting roles. The film took home the Emmy for Outstanding Made for Television Movie.
