Synopsis
The Whole Wide World (1996) is an American biographical drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Dan Ireland. It draws on Novalyne Price's memoir of her friendship with Robert E. Howard — the Texas pulp writer who invented Conan the Barbarian — set in the hardscrabble rural Texas of the 1930s.
Vincent D'Onofrio plays Howard as a man who barely lives in the same world as everyone else: he shouts his stories at the walls, runs on almost no sleep, and lights up only when he can talk about the characters in his head. Renée Zellweger plays Price, young and sharp enough to see exactly what she's gotten into. The two actors pull off something genuinely difficult — making an overwhelming person feel human, without softening any of the edges that make him hard to be around.
