Buck is 27 and has not grown up. He spent five years nursing his sick mother and living on memories of his childhood friend Chuck. After she dies, Chuck shows up for the funeral with a fiancée and leaves the same day. Buck follows him to Los Angeles. Chuck has a career, a relationship, a life that does not include Buck. He has said so clearly. Buck is not listening.

Arteta shot on a consumer camcorder for almost nothing, and the lo-fi image turns the whole thing into an uneasy act of surveillance. The film is funny at moments, but it earns that discomfort honestly — White plays the role straight rather than for sympathy, which makes it genuinely hard to shake.
