Synopsis
So Help Me God (Ni juge, ni soumise, 2018) is a Belgian true-crime documentary you can watch online on iFILM. For three years the cameras shadowed Brussels investigating magistrate Anne Gruwez through interrogations, crime-scene visits and stacks of case files. No script, no actors — every word of it is real.
Gruwez is a character no screenwriter would dare invent: blunt, sardonic, and utterly unimpressed by the people across her desk. Alongside her current caseload, she reopens a killing left unsolved for two decades, when two women were found dead in a comfortable part of the city. She lays the old evidence out again, hauls former suspects back in for questioning, and runs it all past newer forensic methods.
Directors Yves Hinant and Jean Libon shot it in the style of the cult TV program Strip-tease — no narration, no music, just watching. The result is harsh, awkward and weirdly funny. The tagline says it plainly: it's not cinema, it's worse. Stream So Help Me God (2018) online on iFILM.
