Synopsis

Outcast (2010) is a British-Irish horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Colm McCarthy sets the action in a grey Edinburgh housing estate where Mary (Kate Dickie) and her teenage son Fergal have just moved again — they have been running for years, and the something chasing them is Cathal (James Nesbitt), a man who uses old Celtic dark arts to track them.

Fergal starts a relationship with a local girl played by Karen Gillan, two years before she took the role of Amy Pond in Doctor Who. Then the bodies start turning up. McCarthy keeps the mythology deliberately opaque; the film is stronger on dread than on explanation, and the council estate setting gives it a texture that most supernatural horror doesn't bother with.
