Synopsis
Move Over, Darling (1963) is an American romantic comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Michael Gordon and headlined by Doris Day and James Garner, it opens on a perfectly bad coincidence. Five years after Ellen vanished in a Pacific plane crash, her husband Nick has her declared legally dead and remarries. That very afternoon, the Navy drops Ellen, very much alive, back at her own front door.
What follows is screwball mischief at full tilt. Nick is caught between Bianca, his brand-new bride waiting on a honeymoon, and Ellen, who has every intention of reclaiming her husband and their two daughters. Unable to break the news cleanly, he stacks one frantic lie on top of another. Then comes the kicker: Ellen wasn't alone on that desert island, and the sudden appearance of her ruggedly handsome fellow castaway flips the jealousy right back at Nick.
Day and Garner trade barbs with the easy timing that made them a beloved comic pair. A remake of the Cary Grant gem My Favorite Wife, it's old-fashioned farce that runs on charm rather than logic, and an easy watch when you want laughs without a single demand.
